raising questions
Students observe phenomena to generate investigable questions

Introduction
Asking the right questions is central to scientific progress. This task guides learners in cultivating this essential skill by helping them distinguish between investigable and non-investigable questions and empowering them to refine their questions to drive scientific inquiry
Task Description
Learners work in groups to observe a real-life phenomenon, generate questions, classify them, and practice transforming “why” and non-investigable questions into ones that can be explored experimentally. The activity fosters a culture of curiosity, precision, and deeper inquiry.
Task implementation
- Group-based activity, suitable for on-site and remote learning.
- Suitable for Cross-curricular integration
- Flexible implementation for various contexts
Materials required
- White paper or post-it notes (at least 10 per group)
- Observation tools (magnifying glasses, thermometers, extra lights, etc.)
